Principle of single screw extruder:

The compression here is produced by the conveying stage 3, and the compression here is one. This is called the compression ratio of the screw --3:1.
Principle of single screw extruder: the third section is the metering section where the material maintains the plasticizing temperature. At this point, the temperature cannot be lower than the plasticizing temperature, generally slightly higher.

The advantages and disadvantages:
Advantages: single screw extruder design simple, cheap, and widely used.
Disadvantages:
(1) the material transportation of single-screw extruder mainly relies on friction, which limits its feeding performance. Powder, paste, glass fiber and inorganic filler are difficult to be added.
(2) when the head pressure is high, the countercurrent increases and the productivity decreases.
(3) the single-screw exhaust extruder has little effect on the surface renewal of the exhaust area, so the exhaust effect is poor.
(4) single-screw extruder is not suitable for some processes, such as polymer coloring, thermosetting powder processing.
